Discipleship: The Calling and Purpose for all Christians

A little information about discipleship

Discipleship is all about leading by example and introducing people to God through your Words, Actions and Service to Jesus Christ...Doing and leading by example is the foundation for discipleship..Rather we realize it or not..We are all making somebody a disciple of something..Either you are making disciples of the World or you are making disciples of Jesus..Your love for Jesus Christ is the foundation for your personal relationship with God..And your love will determine rather or not you serve God..When you love Jesus you have a desire to obey Gods Word...So you seek Gods purpose for your life so you can do what God has called you to do...Doing the Lords Will for your life develops and evolves into making others disciples of Jesus Christ.

All Christians..Rather you consider yourself a leader or rather you consider yourself just a believer and follower of Jesus..Are called to do these three things...Follow Jesus/Love God..Love People...Spread the Gospel message about Salvation and Grace through Christ..Now God gave us individual talents and gifts so we could be effective and accomplish our calling ...There are people already prepared to receive the Gospel from you..But in order for you to reach these people you have to be using your gifts and talents for God...None of us are more important than the other...We all have the ability to help and bless others in Christ..How you decide to use your gifts and talents will determine rather or not you are effective in discipleship and doing what God has called you to do..You can use your gifts to serve yourself and become successful according to the standards of the World..And lose your eternal reward and salvation..Or you can store up eternal treasure in Heaven and use your gifts for God..Its not always easy serving God because to serve God means to follow Jesus and to follow Jesus means to serve people and to serve people means to sacrifice yourself for the well being of another..This is why Jesus said a real friend gives up his life for the one he loves...And that one must be sure to count the cost before they pick up their Cross..So be encouraged as you move forward..The Holy Spirit will empower you..Dont let your gifts and talents go to waste..Love and Serve God..People are waiting in line and you have the ticket and seed of hope they need..Your love for Jesus can introduce them to Jesus..And then their love for Jesus will introduce others to Jesus..And so as we were commanded to do..We make disciples of all nations in the name of Jesus Christ...

Matthew 22: 37-40 37Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’e 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’f 40The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Matthew 28: 18-20 18Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,b baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Mark 10: 21 21Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. “There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him. “Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Luke 14: 26-28  26“If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 27And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.28“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?

John 15: 13-14 13There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command.
