Righteous Judgment

Righteous Judgment

A little information about judging others

More and more Christians are judging people claiming they are passing righteous judgment in the name of Jesus Christ. Based on this scripture..

John 7: 24 24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Now in the book of Matthew 7: 1-5 Jesus Christ tells us plainly what to expect if we choose to judge other people. First thing we can expect is for God as well as our peers to judge us and hold us to the same standard that we judge others by.

That is why Jesus said “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged."

As soon as you pass judgment on another person. The door opens up for others to judge you. People will search through your past, watch you closely and wait for you to sin. God will also hold you to the standard of living you expect from others. And if you are not living right God will reveal your sin to your peers. And you will face judgment.

That is why Jesus said "The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged."

It is foolish for us to judge each other because we are all sinful.

That is why Jesus said "And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eyec when you have a log in your own? 4How can you think of saying to your friend,d ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?"

Jesus then went on to give us advice so we can avoid being judged. His advice to us was simple and clear. Before you judge another person about their sin. Clean up your own sin.

That is why Jesus said "Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye."

In Matthew 7: 15-20 Jesus tells us how we can judge. First He tells us to beware of how people appear to be or how they present themselves.

“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves."

He said this to let us know we can not judge people based on their appearance. So how do we judge?

16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

We judge by identifying rather or not peoples actions and fruit are good.

That is why Jesus said "A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

Now in the book of John Jesus told the people not to judge by appearance but to judge righteous judgment. He said this because the people passing judgment on him were guilty of what they accused Him of. In other words they all had logs in their eyes. They appeared to be Holy and they appeared to obey God. But the fruit they produced in their life and their actions proved they lived in disobedience to God. But the fruit Jesus Christ produced and all of His actions proved He belong to God. The people were unable to pass righteous judgement because they were living in disobedience to God. That is why Jesus often called them hypocrites. A person who will not repent and acknowledge their own sin can not pass righteous judgment in the name of Jesus Christ. And a unrighteous heart in the eyes of God can not pass righteous judgement in the name of Jesus Christ. Because evil comes from an evil heart.

That is why in the book of Luke 6: 45 Jesus said 45A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

Christians are not qualified to judge the motives and intentions of a persons heart. Christians are not suppose to go around throwing stones and judging people. When you do pass judgment do so with the understanding that you will be judged in the very same way. Righteous judgment is not condemning a person for sin or attacking their character as a individual. Righteous judgment is identifying rather or not a person belongs to God based on their actions and the fruit they produce. But if you are guilty and producing the same fruit in your life. Your judgment will not be done in righteousness. It will be done in hypocrisy and wont be accepted by God. All you can do is keep your conscience clear with God through repentance. Always examine the fruit produced and tell the truth about peoples actions. Speak and say what God tells you to say through the power of the Holy Spirit. You can not lack common sense, be afraid or ignore the obvious. Christians should speak against sin and the darkness in the world. Either a person produces fruit that is pleasing to God or they dont. Even a child knows the difference between a rotten apple and a good apple..Faith..Hope..Love

John 8: 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!"

Matthew 7: 22-23 22On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
