The sin within us is Satan's partner.
In John 14: 30 31 Jesus tells his disciples: 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.
Jesus was not born with a sinful nature and is the only one who can say, that Satan has nothing in me. All of us have a sinful nature. For every Christian there is a spiritual war between your sinful nature and the Holy Spirit. The sinful nature seeks instant relief and pleasure. The bible teaches us to be led by the Holy Spirit and not by our “flesh”. The "flesh" refers to our human nature, our emotions and our desires. Us wanting to please ourselves and feel good about ourselves mentally, emotionally and physically. Satan uses our flesh against us. Satan tempts our "flesh" to get us to sin against God. Remember Satan even tried to tempt Jesus the same way in the wilderness. Satan uses the same methods on us. The flesh is more than physical pleasure. Thinking about something is just as pleasing as doing it and can be just as harmful. It does not have to be physical or sexual. It can be any thought that is out of fellowship with God that pleases your sinful nature and makes you feel good about yourself. It is good to be aware of what you put inside your mind. What you listen too and what you allow yourself to see. What we take in on a daily bases either feeds our "flesh" or it "feeds our spirit. You can not satisfy both. This is why it is important to guard your mind and heart. Now it is not a sin to listen to music. It is not a sin to watch television or movies. Sin has more to do with what kind of music and what type of program or movie. Every song, program and movie has a individual message. If that message is against the Word of God and causes you to get off track with God mentally or emotionally. Then you shouldn't put it inside your mind. Satan is constantly appealing to the Christian’s sinful nature to lead you down a path of spiritual death. You need to understand what is going on inside of you. There is a constant battle going on inside your mind to do things God’s way or to do things your own way according to your flesh. That is why your “flesh” works against you. As long as Satan can tempt your “flesh” there will always be a possibility of sin. A person who is on the path of spiritual death is a jealous individual and has impure thoughts. This person is guided by self-ambition and self-gratification and their life does not glorify God. This is a person who is spiritually dead. You see the path of spiritual death is a feel good path. Wasting time with friends feels good. Living carelessly feels good. Sexual pleasure feels good. The stimulation from drugs and alcohol feels good. Seeking vengeance feels good. Getting the last word and satisfying your own selfish motives feels good. You see Satan leads you down a feel good path. He sends out motivational speakers who make you feel good about yourself excusing your sin. And before you realize it you are on the path of spiritual death, but it feels good. However, these feelings are not from God and they won’t last. How terrible for the person who ignores the instruction from the Holy Spirit and disobeys God. How terrible for the person who makes a conscience decision to break God’s commandments and reject His free gift of grace. Remember Satan cannot tempt you unless you already have the desire for the temptation. You do not have to give in to your flesh. If you seek the truth, obey and trust the word of God you won’t be deceived by Satan. You are the only person that can keep you from having a relationship with Jesus Christ. You are the only person that can keep you from being used by God. You don’t have to be perfect for God to use you. You have to be faithful, available, and willing. When you have a clear conscience with God the enemy has nothing to threaten you with, nothing to hold over you, and no power to harm you. The enemy is never in control. When you walk with Christ and without fear you can look the serpent in the eye and tell him to bring it on. Give it your best shot. Tell the enemy I’m in God’s will and I’m ready. Faith..Hope..Love
